They Hate Us Because We Know the Truth

Ever since 9/12/2001, when Americans saw rank and file Arab Muslims dancing in the streets at the horror of the attacks in New York and Washington, liberals have asked the question, “Why do they hate us?” Presumably they were asking the rhetorical of Muslims (incorrectly labeled Muslim extremists). The answer to that question is obvious to anyone with a modicum of common sense. Because their religion compels them to hate Jews and Christians and the countries that represent those groups. But that isn’t what my post is about today. There is another insidious group that hates us, our allies.

I suppose that the ill-will that the EU has toward America has its roots in jealousy of our successes over the last 230 years. All the countries of the world seem to measure themselves by an American yardstick. Whether it is sports, politics, or economics, they appear to base their self image on a gauge against America. But that doesn’t explain the current hatred toward the US.

The European elite have raised their snobbish noses at the American war against terror since the outset. They, along with a pliant liberal American media, view President Bush as an illiterate cowboy, bent on proving that he’s the fastest gun in the west. Remember French and German opposition to the war in Iraq? Despite overwhelming evidence that Iraq was a state sponsor of terrorism, they wailed about the ‘unnecessary’ military action. Only after the invasion did we discover that France and Germany were lining their leaders’ pockets with black market oil money. And it was a huge mistake to emphasize WMD’s as the reason for the invasion. It was sexy, easy to explain and made good headlines. It was decidedly more difficult to show the then circumstantial evidence of state sponsored terror.

Today Victor Davis Hanson explores the audacity of the Iranians to perpetuate an act of war against a civil society. He rightly explains that after the cold war, the EU bought into the science fiction ideal of no more war. They assumed that all countries, groups, sects, and entities were rational thinkers and would submit to reason, if it were properly presented. Now they are faced with the reality that not everyone is a political animal that will acknowledge a reasonable argument.

Details are emerging that the Brits surrendered to a force that they far outnumbered. (via Michelle Malkin) I’m reminded of the scene in the movie “Braveheart” in which Robert the Bruce is arguing with his father over joining Wallace in the fight against King Edward. The elder Bruce tells his son not to be enticed by the bravado of William Wallace. Don’t take a position for or against a cause. He says something to the effect of, “our ability to compromise is what makes us noble.”

Europe has been living in a movie land fantasy world of nobility. Even as its Navy seamen have been seized by a government devoid of any concern for other nation states, Britain wrings its hands in collective agony at the “outrageous” Iranian actions. And that demonstrates exactly why Europe hates America.

George Bush understands something that Ronald Reagan understood, you can’t negotiate with terrorists. Insanity does not comprehend reason or compromise. Therefore, we must deal with them in terms that they do understand. That is why we fight in Afghanistan and Iraq. That is why we must continue to meet them in their backyard instead of ours. That is why the political posturing of the Democrat Party (Democratic is an adjective to describe a process. It is not a noun) is a threat to the security of the United States of America. George W. Bush is the Commander in Chief. Congress is not. The desires of the liberal wing of the defeatist party to seize that duty are despicable and border on treason.

You know the reason why most of the rest of the world did not want to go to war is because they knew that it was not for the reasons stated! You really dont know the truth and thats why the U.S. is hated so much. The U.S. government has consistently intruded on other nations domestic politics and caused havoc in the lives of millions of people who are not there subjects!

I really have nothing against the PEOPLE of America.... but really you need to see the world in its real light. The U.S. does ALOT of bad things! The Government I mean, cos very few governments round the world REALLY represent the people!

lilmoonbat - I appreciate your insight into American intelligence. I'm sure that I will sleep better tonight knowing that you live by truth that is a product of your fertile imagination. But as an American, I ask you not to project the inadequacies of your own government onto us. We don't subjugate our citizens. In fact, the opinion of an impotent bureaucratic continental waif does nothing to determine our self worth.

The United States of America is the greatest country on the face of the planet because of our individualism, not in spite of it.

I hit publish a bit quick. The last sentence should be:

The PEOPLE of America are America.
