The Smoke is Getting Thick

The House Intelligence Committee Chairman yesterday suspended a Democrat staffer over a suspected leak to the NYT of the National Intelligence Estimate last month. The Times gleefully manipulated portions of the document to cause a political firestorm that began the backlash against the Republican Party.

While the Republicans have been embroiled in turpitude issues, it appears that the Dems have been undermining National Intelligence. Go Figure. The justification for all of this? They feel that they deserve to be in power and are willing to do whatever is necessary to get that power; even at the expense and jeopardy of thousands of US soldier's lives.

Deserve to be in power? Pardon me but the last time that I looked, the power to govern and lead this country is a responsibility that is given to a person or group that has earned it. It is not a right, a inheritance, or anything else of the sort. It is a gift of the electorate. Period. The Democratic Party has demonstrated that they have not earned your vote. But they have earned your scorn.

The only effective way to show that scorn is to vote for their opponents. A protest vote or not voting at all only returns the vile, treacherous, lying, greedy Democrats to an office that they disparage and have not earned.

Wake Up People

Capt Ed beat me to my post idea for today (Rush too) but I will pile on. I am continually amazed at the Republican voters who sacrifice the greater good of our country because the Republican candidate in their district has a differing view on an issue that the voter cares about.

One thing that the Dems have succeeded in doing is convincing the voters to vote for whoever has the (D) beside their name on the ballot. It doesn't matter if the candidate is a murderer, a drunk, a thief, or a yellow dog, Democrats vote for the (D). Whether they understand the ramifications or not, the voters help the party with the big picture. You can't advance your agenda if you are not the party in power.

Republican voters on the other hand cannot get beyond their pet issues to vote for the party candidate to advance the larger party platform. Immoral congressmen, immigration, abortion, taxes, and more are all things that Republican voters can't seem to get over to ensure that we control the agenda. This is inevitibly to our peril.

In 1992 voters stayed away because Bush 41 broke his no new taxes pledge. That gave us the first four years of Bill Clinton. That was the beginning of travelgate, troopergate, nannygate, the attempt to socialize health care, and a chubby intern in a blue dress was hired. In 1996 the religious wing of the party was upset at Bob Dole's tepid stance on abortion. The result was 4 more years of Clinton. Now we had Monica gate, Paula Jones, impeachment, and perjury. We managed to pull ourselves together to barely win in 2000 and we really got our act together in 2004. Now we are on the verge of another myopic election.

I don't have the foggiest idea who will win the election on November 7. I do know that if we Republicans don't learn how to vote for the party to advance the platform as a whole, we will abdicate control to those who are the antithesis of what we believe to be right. Then the religious right will opine about the moral decadence of our country (and they'll be right) but it will be too late. The time to act is now. Vote Republican regardless of what you may or may not agree with. The control of legislation, committees, and the agenda for the next decade is at stake.

Do Something About It Mr. Poofy Head

The NORKs are miffed that the world is miffed at them for their baby nukes. I wonder if Kim Jong Il is embarrassed when he's in the nuclear power locker room and the other boys whip their's out? I mean his is only 1/15th of the size of the US's baby nukes in 1945.

Kim: "I now nucrear power! I brow you up with my nucrear missire!"

Bush: "Easy there big boy. You don't want to hurt yourself with that thing."

Putin: "Do you need to borrow my magnifying glass to see the 'GO' button?"

(hee, hee, hee)

Kim: "Stop raughing at me! You sanctions an act war! You decrare war!"

(HAW, HAW, HAW, HEE, HEE, HEE, HAW, HAW HAW)

Bush: "Your funny Kim. Does Don King do your hair?"

Putin: "Hey Kimmy, Elton John called and he wants his glasses back."

HAWWW HAWWW HAWW HAWWW, OH NO, HEE HEE, HO HO HO

Kim: "You rear funny."

Coincidence? I Think Not

Glenn Reynolds links to this story about the Corleone like threats of the advertising consultant to Mark Foley's opponent. Can there be any more doubt that the Democrats held on to this story until the ultimate political advantage could be gained? Not in my opinion.

We Need to Bust Out the Whomping Stick

Forget for a moment that the test of the nuclear bomb that the NORKs were developing didn't work. At best, it was a dirty bomb. It is more important that they are close enough to try a test. Much hay has been made over who is responsible. Is it the previous administration of Little Willie Clinton (LWC) who was impotent in all of his foreign policy measures (but obviously not in the oval office hallway)? Or is it the current Bush administration that is mired in a three front war, Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Democratic party that would wage war against its own country to regain power? Let's see.

Clinton tried to negotiate with the madman with the bad hairdo. No one has seen hair that bad on a dictator since Hitler but I digress. LWC sent over his crack state department team and they negotiated the "Agreed Framework". Here is what they offered according to Wikipedia:

  • DPRK's graphite-moderated nuclear power plants, which could easily produce weapons grade plutonium, would be replaced with light water reactor (LWR) power plants by a target date of 2003. Construction halted in Dec 2002, far behind schedule.
  • Oil for heating and electricity production would be provided while DPRK's reactors were shut down, until completion of the first LWR power unit. Oil provided, Nuclear weapons production went underground. Oil shipments halted in 2003
  • The two sides would move toward full normalization of political and economic relations. Never happened in the last 6 years of Clinton. Won't happen under Bush.
  • The U.S. would provide formal assurances to the DPRK, against the threat or use of nuclear weapons by the U.S. We haven"t bombed them...yet
  • The DPRK would take steps to implement the Korean Peninsula Denuclearization Declaration. The NORKs have laughed at this one
  • IAEA ad hoc and routine inspections would resume for facilities not subject to the freeze. The IAEA inspected the old enrichment sites but made no effort to look for clandestine programs. The IAEA couldn't find their backsides with flashlights and written instructions.
  • Existing spent nuclear fuel stocks would be stored and ultimately disposed of without reprocessing in the DPRK. No verification that NORK is compliant
  • Before delivery of key LWR nuclear components, the DPRK would come into full compliance with its safeguards agreement with the IAEA. LWR construction began, components delivered, NORK taunted the IAEA once again and are still not in compliance.

Bush is not without blame either.

  • Shortly after coming to office, he learned of the NORK secret program and moved to enforce the agreement by cutting off funding for the free oil, the LWRs, and ending talk of normalized relations until NORK complied with their end of the bargain.
  • After the terrorists attacks of 9/11/2001 he labeled the NORKs as part of the axis of evil. This caused the NORKs to kick their program into hyperdrive.
  • Bush's advisors at the pentagon, CIA, and staff miscalculated the Iraq situation. The philosophy of cutting off the head and the rest of the snake dies was wrong. Another group of snakes took its place causing a protracted occupation.
  • Bush forgot the first rule of politics: "There are no friends in politics." He trusted all Americans to put their country above political gain but the Democrats refused hoping to obstruct their way back into power.
  • Bush failed in his prioritization of the threats to America from the axis of evil, leaving the NORKs to the periphery.

The Clinton administration was distracted from the NORKs by his peccadilloes and scandals. He didn't have the fortitude to stop NORK when they were just beginning. Like Hitler's bluffs in the Rhineland and Poland, Kim Jung Il bluffed and lied about his programs to achieve his goals. Clinton was this era's Chamberlain sacrificing common sense in the false hope of peace.

Bush, like Churchill, had to deal with the failings of his predecessor. He acted on the information provided to him and unfortunately was wrong on the time required in Iraq. Who now can fix this mess?

I'm not sure that anyone can. However, I look at the Democrats and they appear to just want to tuck our tails between our legs and run home. That will not make this country any safer. It will embolden our enemies and endanger our citizens. Continued diplomacy with NORK will only lead to further lies and deceptions. We've walked softly long enough. We have acted in timidity to our peril. It is time to start using the big stick and fight to win the war on terror. The Republican Party is the only hope to do this. John Kerry (wants to quit), Jack Murtha (wants to quit), Ted Kennedy (wants to quit), Hillary Clinton (wants to quit), Nancy Pelosi (wants to quit), et al, just are not capable.
