Wait - The Military Hasn't Quit Yet?

In a shocking discovery, the greatest military in the world continued the mission today, despite the surrender of 218 House Democrats. Apparently, the American military still has the honor, courage, and integrity to continue the fight. They exhibit the intestinal fortitude that the loser Democrats lack.

We Must Lose

We are a bunch of losers and we insist that the military lose too! That’s what the House Democrats declared today with their vote to hamstring the personnel who are actually getting shot at. The Democrats have finally insisted that this conflict be managed just like Vietnam.

They managed to screw that up and they are hell-bent on forcing their defeatism on the rest of America. The facts are that the President is Commander-in-Chief. Nancy Pelosi is not. Harry Reid isn’t either. Ditto for the rest of the French-like party. Ms Pelosi has just publicly stated that the Democrat’s platform is now to surrender first when faced with adversity. No doubt that the spin meisters will charge the administration with pulling out too soon when Iraq devolves into anarchy.

But the Dems aren’t the only ones to blame. There are public figures of all stripes who are believed to be conservative and yet have continually thrown rocks at the president over the Iraq conflict. If you can’t figure out who I’m talking about, think of Bill Reilly, Pat Buchanan, et al.

In my previous post today I linked to Neville Chamberlain’s quest for appeasement. Ms. Pelosi has succeeded in channeling his vision into the Democrat Party. God help us all.

What Should the Brits Do?

What should the Brits do? The puppet regime of Iran has seized 15 British sailors in Iraqi territorial waters. In years past, the British have used blockades to achieve a peaceful end to a situation where diplomacy faltered. But would that work with Iran?

There are different opinions whether or not the blockades work. Many credit the British blockades with forcing Germany to the negotiating tables in WWI. But it’s more likely that the Germans ran out of credit with neutral trading partners and that forced them to finally give up. Blockades today wouldn’t work. Iran is in a ménage a trois with Russia and China and none of them are willing to give up their relationship. They would maneuver around a purely economical blockade and it would not work.

I have an idea. An invasion of Iran would fail politically in Britain, although that is probably going to happen at some point and time; either by the UK or the USA. But an immediate solution would be a targeted blockade. As ransom for seized British property they should seize every outbound Iranian oil tanker and hold it until the hostages are released.

It is apparent that the Persians do not respect anything other than a will greater than their own. There is no need to invade Iran, right now anyway. If the mullahs decide to play hardball and start executing the hostages – they are not prisoners – then the Brits should sell the oil and give the proceeds to the families of those killed. If the Iranians kill all of the hostages, the Brits would have every right to destroy every energy facility in Iran. Every facility includes not only oil but nuclear and anything else that provides energy of any means. That would be hardball that the Iranians might understand but I doubt it. That country is in desperate need of regime change. Unfortunately, the Brits have demonstrated that they have lost the stomach for such measures. Chamberlain would be proud.

Terrorists Who Suck are Now Room Temperature

We really like to blow things up. The good guys killed 5 terrorists and captured 3 others a couple of days ago. It would seem to me that they could have placed some kind of trigger device on several of the barrels and blown up the explosives just as effectively. But where’s the fun in that? We got planes with bombs. It’s a lot more fun that way and it makes the pilots feel useful.

I love the last sentence of the first paragraph. What self-defense measures did they use? Did they open up some Bruce Lee on the bad guys? Maybe a little Jet Li? Perhaps they opened up Wild Mike’s box and he did the rest. But knowing how we like explosions, we probably shot them. It really doesn’t matter. Dead is dead and they are now room temperature.

Title: FIVE TERRORISTS KILLED, EXPLOSIVES FACTORY DESTROYED

Release Date: 3/21/2007

Release Number: 07-01-03P

Description: BAGHDAD, Iraq -Coalition Forces killed five terrorists, destroyed a bomb-making factory and detained three suspected terrorists during an operation Wednesday near Taji.As ground forces entered the target buildings, they encountered several armed men. Coalition Forces used self-defense measures killing five terrorists and detaining three suspected terrorists.
During the raid, Coalition Forces discovered an adjacent building was being used as an explosives factory. Inside the building, Coalition Forces found large caliber ammunition and explosive manufacturing materials including numerous 50-gallon barrels of explosive material.
Coalition Forces conducted an air strike to destroy the explosives factory, associated vehicles, ammunition and weapons.
At least four large secondary explosions were noted after the initial bomb was dropped on the target, indicating the destruction of the explosive material within and beneath the structure.
A careful analysis was conducted prior to the strike, and every possible precaution to avoid unnecessary collateral damage was taken. No Coalition Forces or civilians were injured during the operation.
"Coalition Forces will continue to systematically kill or capture al-Qaeda in Iraq terrorists regardless of where they may hide or operate," said Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, MNF-I spokesperson. "No place is safe for a terrorist in Iraq."

Natural Selection and Logic

I’m sure that this makes sense to someone. Perhaps we can get Al Gore’s opinion. Or maybe we could get Paris Hilton to weigh in. I’m sure she would make as astute an opinion as Herr Albrecht. Actually, Mr. Albrecht should be commended for voicing his opinions. Far too many on the left will share his views that humankind should not intervene in nature but when it comes time to pay the piper suddenly lose their moral wallet.

His statements are that the cub would have died in nature because the mother abandoned it. Therefore, the Berlin zoo should kill the cub mercifully. Let’s carry this argument of natural selection to its logical conclusion. If an animal, like a polar bear cub, is abandoned, humans should not try to save the animal because nature would want it that way. I suppose that this would apply to dogs, cats, snow seals, every animal in fact. But I don’t want to use cute and cuddly polar bears as an example so I choose to use humans.

Lets say that a single woman raises a couple of kids to age 18. At that point, she throws the kids out because she can no longer afford to pay their living expenses. You know, cell phone bills, car insurance, etc. These kids have been abandoned. Technically they are adults. They can vote and buy cigarettes but they can’t get drunk. Incidentally, they should give a free shot to voters so that they can start drowning their sorrows after facing bad and worse decisions.

So by the laws of natural selection touted by the leftwingers, these kids should be left to fend for themselves. No welfare, no assistance, no food stamps, nothing. They should be allowed to survive only if their resourcefulness gains them a job and they contribute to society. Therein is the problem for leftistas. Whenever you attempt to apply logic to their agenda, it falls apart on self-contradiction. That I understand.

Title:
IRAQI POLICE, TRIBESMEN MAKE THEIR STAND
Release Date:
3/19/2007
Release Number:
07-01-03P
Description:
TIKRIT, Iraq – Iraqi police and local tribesmen killed or captured at least four heavily armed terrorists after the insurgents tried to attack locals and police Thursday, at the Hardinia police station near Balad, Iraq.
The group of insurgents parked their white sedan in front of the police headquarters around 7 a.m., and they immediately opened up with small-arms fire. IPs repelled the initial attack and moved toward the vehicle, which was actually a car bomb. One terrorist was killed when the car bomb prematurely detonated before he could flee.
The remaining terrorists fled the area as one individual killed himself by detonating a suicide vest during his escape.
“The people of this area have always known that the terrorists have very little to offer, but they’ve often been too afraid to take action on their own, preferring to leave it to the Coalition or Iraqi Security Forces,“ said Maj. John Throckmorton, operations officer, 3rd Combined Arms Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division.

“In the past month, however, we’ve seen an increasing trend of neighborhoods standing up for themselves and against the terrorists,” he said. “There’s a sense that the extremist’s days are numbered. The terrorists are definitely being beaten back in this area.”
The attack resulted in three terrorists killed, two IPs wounded, one local national killed and one wounded. One terrorist was detained.

We're Not France

I have a solution for this. Get a job that doesn’t offer the opportunity to touch pork, pork products, pork shoulder, or ham. I can appreciate that a person may have immigrated to this country from rough circumstances. I even acknowledge their right, at least in this country, to practice what I consider a contemptible religion. But I cannot and will not conform to those idiosyncratic beliefs as the Minnesota Islamic Center Spokesman suggested. I have chosen not to be employed in a field that would violate my beliefs and I am insulted that they would demand that I capitulate to their warped world view. My suggestion? Get a new job or return to your country of origin. As for me, I just bought a pork skin wallet.
